The Luang Prabang Night Market has humble beginnings as a small, intimate affair run by the Hmong and a few other tribal communities under candlelight. Before 1989 Luang Prabang was off-limits to outside tourists and the market was known as the “Candle Market.” In December 2002, the market as we know it today started taking shape.
